I don't normally either but she just happened to see it on our bank statement cause the teller cashed a check out against our checking instead of our savings (where she normally don't keep as sharp an eye out on)

I've been married for 35 years  (same woman ) and you don't get there hiding everything you buy. I don't of course discuss buying gear before the purchase, she simply doesn't understand. ...

It will be 37 years for us in October...I tell her it's no more than what she spends on makeup & manicure/pedicures ($62 a pop every 4 weeks)  but she doesn't want to hear that... My explaining is after the purchase as well. God knows I'd buy nothing if it was before the purchase that I asked...

35 years here, as well. As long as I sell enough to cover my expenses (give or take) and never quibble over what she wants (which is always very reasonable) we're good. She's sensible and has carte blanche to buy what she wants. Which thankfully doesn't include D&G handbags...

My wife has a fancy for Michael Kors & Coach bags...She's 10 years younger than me, and thus has differing materialistic values. I robbed the cradle. Didn't even get married till I was pushing 30.
