While I would still go with more contrast and/or clarity (personal preference) it does work much better in portrait given the elements. :thumbsup:

I'm glad you said that, John, I agree, I am not so keen on the vertical version, the children are both essential to and incidental to the picture in my view, and it needs to be seen as a whole not in part, it just shows how we all see things in a different light i suppose. but thank you all for your comments and ideas, they are truly appreciated!
It has been another good learning curve for me, I had not, up till now explored the adjustment layers and had been altering things in a rather clunky fashion so a big thanks all round :thumbsup:

I think it's a cool photo and I like the composition; I think a vertical could have worked if at the time you got a vertical and a horizontal shot, but the crop did seem to take off too much of the scene.

Something looks a bit off to me but I'm not sure what, the edges of the light reflected in the water seem a bit choppy and that and the kids almost look different than the background which I think looks more natural. I'd almost think the kids were from another photo and beamed into this one! but I know that's not the case - I wondered if they and the reflection were edited more or differently than the rest of the scene.
