YELLOWLEGS SANDPIPER

Oct 26, 2012 at the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge, Plum Island MA. Conditions were just perfect. I had the sunrise behind me casting warm natural light on the subject while the gray sky in the west put a uniform reflection on the salt marsh, which was so calm it was mirror-like.

Nikon P510 on monopod
zoomed to 1,000mm equiv.
ISO 100 | 1/250 sec | f/5.9

Great Blue Heron With Fish

I wasn't looking to shoot wildlife this day; I was at the location to shoot the dam/waterfall and was surprised to find this guy in the river below the dam. Good day for both of us; he caught his lunch, I caught a shot.

Nikon P510, tripod-mounted
180mm (1,000mm equiv)
