The fourth photo is really nice. How did you make this shot?

This series was shot from my terrace on the 9th floor. The copter was about 50 to 75 yards away and was arriving and taking off from droping off the Mayor and Commisioner to the funeral for one of NYPD's Finest killed in the line of duty responding to a fire in an apartment building.

The close-up (#4) is simply zoomed in... Love the heat signature visable from the rear of the copter...

Nice shots. Problem with helicopters is it's hard to get a balance between a shutter speed fast enough to stop motion blur and slow enough to make the rotors look like their moving.

You did better on the former than the latter this time.

I agree... These shots were totally unexpected... I was taking shots of the line-up of officers for the funeral, when suddenly I hear the copter, louder than I have ever heard before. When I took two steps forward on my terrace, there is this helecopter right in front of me... No time to make adjustments...

Yeh that happens sometimes.  The lack of blur doesn't make the photos terrible or anything. In fact they're quite good.

What I love the most is the very unique view I was able to get, especially on the one I zoomed in on... Can realy make someone wonder where I was it they don't read my description above...
