Nope. In America we are not a democracy, we have been a Republic since day one. We have a Constitution, and when some dizzy politician passes a law that violates our rights, I quietly give them a particular hand sign. They once taught civics and history in public screwel, not any more. 
I'll stop there so as not to get "political".
