Let me start by saying that the Fujifilm X-T100 is not a perfect camera. No camera is.
But despite some faults, it’s still a great camera, particularly for its rather low price-point.
If you’re looking for a feature-rich mirrorless camera that has superb image quality, it’s tough to beat this little Fuji.
Let’s explore this camera in a little more detail.
Fujifilm X-T100 Specs
If you’ve ever looked closely at any Fujifilm camera, you’ve probably been impressed by the laundry list of features you get, even on a lower-tier camera like the X-T100.
Placed just above the entry-level X-A5 and just below the X-T20, the X-T100 has some impressive specs:
- 24-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor
- 91-point hybrid autofocus system
- Extended ISO range of 100-51200
- 6 fps continuous shooting
- 4K video at 15p and 1080 video at 60p
- 4K burst mode and multi-focus mode
- WiFi
- Bluetooth
In addition to all that, this camera has a 3-inch tilting and flip-out touchscreen LCD, a 2.36-million-dot OLED electronic viewfinder, an interchangeable grip, and a battery life of 430 shots, which might not seem like much if you’re used to the battery life of a DSLR, but for a mirrorless camera is nothing to shake a stick at.

Fujifilm X-T100 Features In-Depth
As one of the least expensive X-series cameras from Fuji, one can’t expect everything to be perfect.
In reality, the X-T100 gets most of its features from the even more entry-level X-A5. That includes the sensor and the autofocus system.
The sensor is excellent and produces images that are of outstanding quality. Images have beautiful color and excellent detail, though JPEG sharpening can be a little overbearing (you can adjust the sharpening setting though). ISO performance is top-notch as well, with much cleaner images at high ISOs than other comparable cameras.
Unfortunately, the autofocus system is another story.
To be blunt, the X-T100’s autofocus is rubbish. Its performance is sluggish at best, and at worst it can’t track moving subjects with any level of accuracy. Chalk that up to being an autofocus system developed for a beginner camera.
This good and bad situation extends to other aspects of the camera as well.
The build quality and ergonomics of the camera are superb. It feels great in the hand and it looks great with those signature vintage looks.
The electronic viewfinder is fantastic with excellent resolution at 2.36-million-dots, and the articulating LCD offers you the advantage of flipping outward to the side or tilting up and down for better viewing.
However, 4K shooting is nothing to write home about, with poor quality and limitations that render it a glorified burst mode more than true 4K video.
Additionally, the X-T100’s buffer is smallish, particularly if you’re shooting RAW, and can fill up quite fast.

Fujifilm X-T100 Best Uses
Given that the X-T100 has a terrible autofocus system and 4K video that leaves a lot to be desired, this is not a camera for photographers that need something that makes use of either of those features.
However, it’s not all bad news.
Given the beautiful quality of JPEGs this camera produces, it’s a good option for casual photographers that don’t want to mess around with editing RAW files. Instead, you can upload JPEGs to Instagram, Flickr, and other sites immediately.
The gorgeous electronic viewfinder is another asset that makes shooting in bright light much easier, so long as your subject is stationary, of course. That feature makes the X-T100 a solid choice for shooters that enjoy taking portraits. The articulating LCD makes it easy to take selfies if you’re into that.
The camera also has interval and time-lapse shooting modes, so if landscapes are your thing, you can get creative and make time-lapses with greater ease. There’s no weather-sealing on this camera, though, so just make sure the weather will cooperate.
Fujifilm has a robust collection of lenses for their X-series cameras as well, so whether you need a wide-angle prime, a standard zoom, a telephoto, or something in between, you can find the lens you need.
Fujifilm X-T100 Final Thoughts
Though this camera has its faults, it also has some truly top-notch features that make it a great camera for many shooters.
Portrait photographers and landscape photographers, in particular, will find that the image quality, gorgeous viewfinder, big LCD, and high ISO performance make this a worthy consideration.
Likewise, beginner photographers that want something that’s a tick above entry-level should consider the X-T100 as a good buy.
