Having family photos taken is just the first step in the process.

Once you get the images, you have to get them printed and framed, and then you have to figure out how to display them in your home.

Displaying images in a way that’s meaningful and tasteful can be harder than it seems, though.

With these quick tips, you’ll have a guide to making your family photo displays look their best.

How to Display Family Photos: Try Large Format Prints

One of my favorite ways to commemorate a family photo is to have it printed in large format.

I’m not talking about a six-foot-wide print here, but something that’s two or three feet wide can have a ton of impact in the room in which it hangs.

I personally like to have my big family photos printed on canvas, because I think it gives the photo a classic and timeless look with its subtle texture.

I also like that canvas is wrapped around the edges of the photo, so unlike a framed print, the image seems to have more depth to it.

If you happened to see my head-to-head-to-head comparison of three canvas printing companies, you know that CanvasHQ was the big winner.

If you’re ready to display your family photos in a way that looks great, has tons of visual appeal, and is affordable all at the same time, I highly recommend CanvasHQ to help you out!

How to Display Family Photos: Create a Wall-Sized Collage

I’m not an especially emotional guy - except when it comes to my son.

Becoming a dad was the best thing that ever happened to me, and I try to relish every moment I can with my son.

That means that I take a lot of photos of him. And I mean a lot.

That being the case, I’ve created a wall-sized collage of just some of the photos I’ve taken of my little guy over the years.

These photos are all canvas prints (from CanvasHQ), so I feel like that makes this collage seem a little more cohesive. Obviously, side-by-side images are of similar size so there’s a cohesion in that regard as well.

The key to a wall collage is to have common threads like these that help make it feel like one big display rather than a haphazard collection of random photos.

How to Display Family Photos: Try Black and White

I love a good black and white print, especially if it’s on canvas.

The combination of the bright whites and dark blacks with the texture of the canvas is such a good look. It’s classic all the way around!

Additionally, by removing the color from the photo, you can create a wall display like discussed above, but it’ll have a completely different look and feel.

Without all kinds of colors to distract the eye, I feel like a collage of black and white images has a timeless, luxurious look to it, too.

And with that, you have a few ideas on how to display family photos in a unique, eye-catching way.

Give these tips a try in your home and see just how much visual appeal they can have!
