We’re living in the future, folks.

Not only are we able to fly our own cameras around attached to drones, but we can now use the power of artificial intelligence to improve the photos we take with said drones. Nice!

That’s thanks to AirMagic, the latest product from Skylum, the very company that’s responsible for the impeccable Aurora HDR 2019 and Luminar 3. If you haven’t already, click on the links to read our reviews of those products.

From the sounds of it, AirMagic should follow suit very nicely

What is Skylum AirMagic?

AirMagicAirMagic can be used either as a standalone program or as a plugin for Lightroom or Photoshop, meaning it can adapt to your specific needs to help you develop the ideal workflow for your drone photography whether you use a Mac or a PC.

It uses AI and advanced algorithms to automatically improve your drone photos. And by automatic, I mean it’s truly automatic: the app analyzes different features of the image and makes the necessary improvements to the image all on its own.

This is a first-of-its-kind application of AI, and for drone enthusiasts, it will make the task of processing drone photos a quick, simple, and painless process.

How Does Skylum AirMagic Work?

It couldn’t be simpler, really.

Just drag and drop your images (the app works with all file types used by drones, including RAW and DNG) into AirMagic and let it do its thing. Notice I said “images” - AirMagic will batch process images so you get an even more streamlined workflow (up to 4GB of images simultaneously!).

Part of the automatic adjustments that are made is to remove haze from the photos. Haze is a common problem in drone photography, and by automatically removing it, AirMagic is able to enhance the details in your shots for a cleaner final result.

AirMagic also analyzes images to detect the sky and makes targeted enhancements that increases saturation of the atmosphere and boosts contrast for skies that pop.

But the sky isn’t the only area of your images that benefit from enhanced details…

AirMagic automatically reveals details throughout the image so the subject matter is beautifully crisp. Better still, AirMagic does this without introducing noise or artifacts.

You can also boost colors in your drone images. AirMagic automatically adjusts color levels throughout highlights, midtones, and shadows. The result? Beautiful, rich, and deep colors.

Do I Have Any Input in Skylum AirMagic?

Though AirMagic is completely capable of enhancing your images on its own, you can certainly add your input as you see fit.

You can utilize five different in-app Styles to give your drone photos an enhanced artistic look (more Styles are available on Skylum’s website). You can also adjust automatic corrections that were made.

For example, AirMagic automatically detects the kind of camera used to capture the images and applies lens corrections. You can switch those lens corrections off should you desire.

Additionally, you can adjust the strength of AirMagic’s overall refinements to the image by using a single slider to reduce or increase the effect.

What is the Skylum AirMagic Price?

The basic AirMagic package is $39.00. That gets you a license for two computers. The same product key will work for Mac and PC if you have a mixed-computer household.

Alternatively, you can opt for AirMagic Creative Edition, which is on sale for $41.00 at the moment. In addition to the two basic licenses, AirMagic Premium Style is included.

If you happen to have a drone business, AirMagic Business is $89.00 for five licenses.

In other words, Skylum has made AirMagic more than affordable for both individuals and businesses. And considering its ease of use and host of features, these prices are outstanding.
