1. When you’re ready for an advanced digital photography learning experience then come to the Oregon Coast. Here, you’ll find a primal landscape of land, sea, light and atmosphere: basic elements of nature combined into breathtaking images that will challenge you to develop your photographer’s eye and mind to see them.

2. Despite being in the perfect place to improve your landscape photography skills significantly, you also need guidance from professional photographers who will help you see what is still invisible to your mind. For 2013, Visionary Wild is hosting another of its Vision Workshops on the Oregon Coast, May 13–17.

3. Justin Black, Visionary Wild co-founder and well-known nature/landscape photographer, will be workshop leader. He’ll join with Jack Dykinga and John Shaw to provide you and just 9 other dedicated and aspiring photographers with advanced instruction in creative vision and digital workflow.

Jack’s work has appeared in National Geographic and many other major publications and he has received a Pulitzer Prize for his unique combination of fine art photography and documentary photojournalism. John Shaw has been equally published and recognized for his 40 years of outstanding landscape imagery, which resulted in the North American Nature Photography Association (NANPA) honoring him with the first Outstanding Photographer Award during 1997.

4. Justin, Jack and John will take you to spectacular locations and strategic camera positions in the Bandon, Oregon area of America’s Wild Rivers Coast, a 101-mile stretch of the southern Oregon coast.

5. Each day of the Vision Workshop will start early, as some of the best opportunities to develop your creative vision and transform it into unique compositions occur during the early morning light. The grand forests that top the rugged cliffs, the towering slivers of rock that rise from the sea and the placid expanse of water will surround you with amazing subject matter. Justin, Jack and John will help you focus your eye and mind and discover new ways to record this incredible display of Nature.

6. Bring your camera and your vision to the level of the beach in the Bandon State Natural Area to photograph artistic beachscapes at low and high tide. The same location will look completely different and this VisionaryWild Advanced Workshops will give you the tools to photograph its many moods.

7. A late evening session in Bandon Marsh National Wildlife Refuge will allow you to utilize the last rays of the sun, and then find additional creative visions during twilight. If you’re attracted to developing bird photography skills, then the Marsh is an excellent palette, as it teems with migrating shorebirds as well as bald eagles and California brown pelican.

8. The Bandon area also includes that most iconic of seaside structures, the lighthouse. The Coquille River Lighthouse is just north of the village of Bandon, where the Coquille River meets the sea. To the south, near Port Orford, is Cape Blanco Lighthouse. Justin, Jack and John will help you visualize, and record, unique compositions of these structures, so they become more than the standard object in so many amateur vacation pictures.

9. The VisionaryWild Oregon Coast Advanced Workshop is much more than field sessions. The middle hours of each day will be filled with classroom lectures, hands-on instruction and critical review of your work. Jack will show you what you might have missed and share your triumphs, utilizing them as examples for the rest of the class.

10. John will complement your fieldwork with a comprehensive explanation of effective workflow, so you’re able to control the entire process from a RAW file to the use of Photoshop to add the final touches to your creative vision.
