1. Many top photographers, who shoot action (nature, sports, etc.) with a long or very long lens, agree that Really Right Stuff’s PG-02 line of Pano-Gimbal Heads is the industry leader. They state unequivocally that there is no comparison when you take the PG-02 into the field and shoot with big body/long lens combinations, such as the Canon 1D series and as a large as the EF 800mm f/5.6L. Shooting high-speed, high-track crossing-rate action, and from a moving (forward, roll, pitch and heave) platform, the PG-02 Gimbal Head is well balanced and incredibly smooth.

2. Panorama photographers love the PG-02 because it is a multi-axis pano-gimbal head. It’s easy to identify the no parallax point/entrance pupil and align it with the axes of rotation. They are also attracted to its multiple functions in one head: pano, gimbal and video.

3. This allows for the most exacting stitching where separate photos join, making them invisible. The design of the Really Right Stuff PG-02 Pano-Gimbal Head means there will be no edge distortion because your camera is pivoted at the lens.

4. Videographers specifically appreciate the unparalleled panning action, as the PG-02 glides with no jerking or sloppiness at whatever head tension they choose. Really Right Stuff has also included an additional threaded screw on top of the vertical arm to mount audio or other equipment, including another ballhead.

5. Hobbyists and enthusiasts will also benefit from the PG-02 Pano-Gimbal Head, since they will achieve a totally parallel and straight stitch of the separate images that create a panorama. Without the RRS Gimbal Head, their panoramas are apt to have a crescent shape, with the edges curved upwards and downwards in relation to the center of the image. A panorama could be cropped until it is parallel, but that will eliminate essential portions of the final photo.

6. The Really Right Stuff PG-02 Pano-Gimbal Head comes in four configurations. The first is the PG-02 FG, or full-gimbal package. Its modular design allows you to disassemble it easily, without the use of tools, by sliding the cradle clamp from the vertical rail and the vertical arm from the horizontal base. The entire head kit can then be packed flat.

All PG-02 Pano-Gimbal heads, including the PG-02 FG, will support 50 lbs. (23kg). The panning base and tilt axle are laser-engraved in 2.5° increments, from zero to 360°. The PG-02 Full-Gimbal weighs a total of 57.9 oz. (1.6kg). It retails for $800.

7. The PG-02 LLR model comes with the B2 LLR II lever-release style, quick-release clamp. This RRS Pano-Gimbal model weighs 47.2 oz. (1,340g), with the LLR. It’s priced at $698.

8. The PG-02 LR uses the BR LR II quick-release clamp. The top of the vertical arm, as on all of the PG-02 Gimbals, has a single female socket tapped 3/8”-16. The total kit weighs 44.6 oz. (1,266g) and retails for $686.

9. Really Right Stuff’s PG-02 Pro/L has the B2-Pro/L screw-knob style, quick-release clamp. This gimbal’s total weight is 45.7 oz. (1,297g) and is priced at $653.

10. All four PG-02 Pano-Gimbal Heads can be purchased as a package, with either the Really Right Stuff TVC-33, TVC-33S or 34L tripods, and savings of $24 to $35 from the combined prices of the head and tripod, separately.

11. The horizontal base, vertical arm and cradle cramp for any of the PG-02 Pano-Gimbal Heads can be purchased separately. For more information, visit the Really Right Stuff Web site at reallyrightstuff.com.
