More and more digital photography enthusiasts are trading their beginners’ compact cameras for entry-level DSLRs or mirrorless cameras (interchangeable lens systems). They are aspiring to improve their skills and compose and capture higher quality images. The camera manufacturers continue to make it easy to upgrade, with mirrorless cameras that are very lightweight and small, but with many DSLR features, and first-choice DSLRs that are comfortable to use all day. Amateur digital photographers are also able to boost their creativity with the enormous array of lenses and accessories that are compatible with affordable DSLRs.

As more digital photographers become serious about their passion, it isn’t long before they’ve acquired a selection of gear that they want to be available wherever they are traveling and shooting. A camera bag is the obvious solution, but it must be the right bag: not too big, too small or too cumbersome, which is what Lowpro has created with its Event Messenger 250 bag.

There was 1 real customer review of the Lowepro Event Messenger 250 bag giving it a 5 star rating, if you would like to read this review you can do so here.

1.    Although the Lowpro Event Messenger 250 is the largest bag in the company’s Event Messenger line, the 250 is of a medium, manageable size compared to all bags. The exterior cover and interior surface are made of durable nylon and polyester fabrics.

2.    What pleases many photographers who swear by this bag is that it is both spacious and surprisingly slim, especially given the thickness of the interior protective padding. It’s large enough to carry most everything you need when traveling, but is small enough to qualify as carry-on luggage.

The exterior size of the bag is 15.3”W x 7.4”D x 11.7”H (38.8cm x 18.8cm x 29.8cm). The interior dimensions are 13.8”W x 4.7”D x 9.6”H (35cm x 12cm x 24.5cm). The Event Messenger 250 bag weighs 1.8 lbs. (0.8kg).

3.    The spaciousness of the Lowpro Event Messenger 250 bag permits you to pack and carry quite easily a full-frame DSLR, equipped with a grip and lens; as many as four lenses or three lenses and a flash unit; and as large as a 13” laptop in a dedicated, padded enclosure. The bag also features a number of external and internal pockets for all your small accessories—batteries, memory cards, cables, etc.—and personal items—cell phone, a pouched poncho, sunscreen, etc.

4.    Lowpro specifically designed the Event Messenger 250 with interior panels that you can configure to fit your exact equipment profile. Unlike many backpacks, which must be nearly emptied to find and reach some equipment, this Lowpro bag is so well organized that most every item is directly accessible.

5.    Such excellent equipment accessibility is possible because Lowpro gave this bag a large top flap that opens very wide, so every piece of equipment is in view.

6.    Your equipment may be easily accessible, but Lowpro didn’t forget to make the Event Messenger 250 bag secure. Its main flap has what the company calls a Dual-Mode locking mechanism. At the inside center of the flap is a large plastic locking clip, which is the safest and most secure method to protect your equipment from spilling from the bag and the sticky fingers of thieves. The flap also features two large Velcro surfaces, which provides plenty of security, but opens much easier when you’re in a shooting situation that requires quick access to the interior multiple times.

7.    If you don’t need all the size of the Lowpro Event Messenger 250 bag, then you have the options of the Event Messenger 150 and 100 bags. They’re simply smaller versions of the 250, with the same quality construction and features. An important tip to remember is to buy a photography equipment bag that is a bit bigger than you need today, so you’re able to grow into it.
