Even though you may be new to digital photography, Canon knows you still want sharp images, which is why the A2400 IS is designed with optical image stabilization (IS) technology. This advanced function detects camera shake and/or picture blur and corrects it, so your pictures are filled with crisp details and deeply saturated colors. Intelligent IS is another technology that takes the guesswork from shooting stills or video. It automatically “reads” the scene and subject, and then makes the correction selection from six different IS modes to produce the best possible image.

The Canon PowerShot A2400 IS is also a powerful picture-making device, since it is equipped with a 16-megapixel sensor and Canon’s supercharged DIGIC 4 image processor. Together, they deliver outstanding performance, giving you the versatility to shoot in low light and throughout a bright day on the beach.

Whether you want a close-up of a special friend, a group shot of the entire family during the holidays or amazing landscapes of your travel destinations, the 28mm wide-angle, 5x optical-zoom lens on the PowerShot A2400 IS covers all your bases. That 5x factor gives you the equivalent of 28–140mm in 35mm format, which is just what you need to capture all of your active lifestyle.

Operating the Canon PowerShot A2400 IS compact camera couldn’t be easier, too. First, you’ll quickly find and frame your pictures with the big, broad 2.7’inch LCD display. Second, video recording starts by simply pressing the movie record button. No fumbling with a variety of complicated settings. Spend more time having fun as you also take photos of all the activities with the Auto button. When activated, the A2400 IS selects from the best shooting mode from 32 different Smart Auto settings. Portrait mode detects the person in the frame and focuses on him or her precisely, and then creates a pleasing background blur (known as bokeh) to give your portraits more dimensionality.

Want to shoot a family group picture that includes you? Simply set the Self Timer mode on the Canon PowerShot A2400 IS camera and the shutter won’t be released until the camera recognizes a new face stepping into the frame. Don’t hesitate to take your A2400 IS to the slopes or to capture your children playing in the snow. The Snow mode automatically balances the highly reflective light to create accurately exposed pictures. You can even photograph your sleeping bundle of joy without waking him or her with the Discreet Photo mode. It powers off any camera sound and the flash, so you can take pictures undetected.

The Canon PowerShot A2400 IS compact camera provides you with exclusive access to the iMAGE Gateway online community. You’ll have as much as 10GB of storage space for your pictures and videos. Share them with family members and friends via email or social networking; or they can search your gallery for the pictures and movies they would like to see.

The Canon PowerShot A2400 IS compact camera is scheduled for a late-March 2012 release. The camera can be pre-ordered from B&H Photo Video for $159.00 at http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=Canon+PowerShot+A2400IS&N=0&InitialSearch=yes.
