Using Photography Packages

Photography packages are a long-established business model for photographers. This works because the photographer will have specific price points set up for taking the images, such as a studio session or an on-location photo shoot. Physical prints or extra services will be added and specified.

For example, the photographer books a studio portrait setting for a limited time or number of poses and charges a set fee. The basic package may include the session, proofs, a photo book, and an 11x14” canvas print. Additional prints can be added to make a new package, and perhaps several different packages or extra items can be listed as “add on” services or products

What this business model does is create extra profit beyond the photo session. Also, it causes the client to consider various physical print items they can purchase automatically. It’s been an excellent method for as long as I can remember.

What type of physical print items could we add to our packages? Looking at what Lumaprints offers gives us some ideas of what to use.

Peel and Stick Photos

One of the most intriguing photography products I’ve seen are the peel and stick photos from Lumaprints. Peel and stick photos are printed on self-adhesive woven fabric that can be applied to any smooth flat surface.

Peel and stick photos are made in sizes from 8x10” all the way up to 40x60” with lots of options in between. They can be attached to a wall or mounted to various surfaces such as wood, metal, or plaster. The woven fabric is thicker than photo paper, but any moderate to heavy texture will affect the final display, flat, clean surfaces are best.

Wall Mural Peel and Stick Photos

An interesting option for peel and stick photos is using them to create giant wall murals. Very large options, up to your full wall height and width, are possible (unless you live in the Superdome or an aircraft hanger). Images larger than 48” wide will be split into panels of 24” to aid in ease of mounting.

Even protected at these large sizes, colors are true and vibrant, images are sharp, and you can preposition if needed during installation without damaging the peel and stick photos.

Canvas and Framed Canvas

Besides these amazing peel and stick photos, Lumaprints is well known for its canvas prints and framed canvas prints. The canvases are printed on a thick archival-grade, poly-cotton blend canvas that provides great durability. The canvas material is bright white, pH neutral, and acid-free so that they won’t yellow over time.

The wood stretcher bars are kiln-dried pine with beveled edges and will not over time. The stretcher bars come in 3 widths, depending on your end application. The frame options are floating frames in black, white, or silver.

A floating frame gives your images the illusion of floating inside the picture frame without touching it, which creates an interesting visual detail and a sense of three-dimensional depth in the overall display.

Metal Prints

Metal prints made from aluminum offer a vibrancy of color not seen in other types of prints. Because of how the image is infused into the coating of the metal, the colors on a metal print are incredibly vivid. When clients see an aluminum print for the first time, they often think that the brilliance of the colors is due to artificial lighting. It isn’t. The medium itself gives brilliance to your colorful images.

Lumaprints makes metal prints in sizes from 8x10” to 24x36” and offers a variety of mounting options, including inset frames, metal easels, or steel posts. The inset frames position your prints about ¾” from the wall surface for a floating effect.

Fine Art Paper Prints

Their fine art paper prints are printed on archival grade, high-quality photo paper using custom inks and a sophisticated printing process. Four finishes and weights are offered in sizes up to 40x60” and various specialty sizes such as square prints and panoramas.

How To Use Peel and Stick Photos

The best way to use peel and stick photos in your packages is to have some already printed and on display. The same is true for the other types of prints in your packages. When the client can see and feel them for themselves, they are more likely to order.

When you receive your peel and stick photos, clean and dry the surface you’re going to use. Then, slowly peel off the backing and apply to the wall or whatever flat surface you’re using. Smooth it out from top to bottom and let it set.

The results are a unique piece of photo art that captures attention and should motivate sales of photography packages.
