Oh wow, nice camera. I got a Voigtlander rangefinder not long ago and it's a treasure, I love it. Nice thing too about collecting old cameras is they're not too expensive for the most part. And you can still find 120 and 127 size film. I have a camera old enough to take 116 film which they don't make but finally found some old (really old) film that size; they say it can still work w/a long exposure but haven't tried it yet. Have fun using your 'new' camera!

I've found Karen Nakamura's Photoethnography site to be a pretty good resource about old cameras, yours looks like it might be a little older than hers but similar. www.photoethnography.com/ClassicCameras/VoigtlanderBessa.html
I usually see more old Kodaks and box Brownies than the Voigtlanders. Now you're going to have some of us wanting Santa to bring us one!

There is a film "come-back" brewing, as everyone and their cousin has a DSLR now. The popular Insta-gram site adds a film affect, to NOT look digital perfect.

Here are a few sites found on my iPad today touting "filmography"...

And a DSLR with a homemade "Lensbaby"...

...if you wanted to combine the new with the old.

You're right on the cusp of a new internet "meme" -- my pic taken with film. :)

I've run across so much lately about alternate processes, film, pinhole photography - not that any of it is new but it seems to be getting more popular - I've wondered if it's a reaction to digital. Digital photography can get so bogged down in figuring out the technology compared to putting a roll of film in a camera. Not that there isn't a place for some of the techniques that can be done digitally, and for use on the internet a digital camera makes sense.

I think it's getting pretty easy to go back and forth between film and digital w/better scanners/printers for home use. Maybe people like me that are more interested in arts and crafts like to be more hands on. I know I don't find doing so much of photography on the computer that enjoyable.

Just about the time Polaroid had stopped making Polaroid cameras they made one again, I supposed to compete w/the Fuji Instax. And the Impossible Project stepped in to make instant film for older Polaroid cameras. It may not be as common as digital but there seems to be a market for it.

I don't think I'll be all that surprised if there starts to be a demand again for film cameras when people start to get tired of spending so much time on the computer and would rather just run their film to the corner drugstore.

For the same reason pros will sometimes grab a Holga, it's to get away from that too clean digital look.

Film cameras show their tracks better. You can tell it's a Polaroid, or a 120 square format and etc. without looking at the EXIF.
