Leica M8.2

I was looking to add a Leica M8.2 to my camera addiction and was interested to see everyone selling a used camera list the number of photos it has taken. I checked my Leica Digilux 2 to see how many photos I have taken with it but could not figure out how to find this out. The black book was no help either so I thought someone here could help me determine my photo count.

I doubt if you can get an accurate count of the shutter usage.

On most digital camera you might get a rough idea of the number of photos taken by looking at the three-digit sequence number in the image folder on the memory card. This normally increment by one digit after 9999 photos (e.g., from _100xxxx to _101xxxx where the xxxx are a code to ID the camera). So, if the folder name is up to _105xxxx, that would indicate about fifty thousand shots.

HOWEVER, it is not fool-proof.

If you use high-capacity memory cards, the folder number can also increment when you get to 999 images in the in-camera folder on one card (as I discovered with my D300).

Also, this counter can be reset to zero.

I believe there are some programs online that will be able to pull the shutter actuations out of the EXIF, unfortunately I can't recall any right now. If you look I can't imagine it would take too long to find one.
