How to Store a telescope and stand

5 years 9 months ago #503852 by James F
I have a friend who has a Celestron 10" set up and I've been over there a few times to see if I would enjoy astrophotography.  I'm sold, but now just need to figure out where I would store the telescope and stand when not in use.  My friend built a small 'room' off one end of his top deck.  So at night the entire 25% of the room swings up and over, allowing complete 360 view of the stars.

I don't have this sort of space.  Now if I leave the set up on my small deck covered when not in use, will that be ok?  I'm referring to a tarp or cover, kind of like the type used for my BBQ when not in use.  So there will be airflow from the bottom.

Will this work, or will I risk damaging the telescope or electronics?

If you live in the northern climes, leaving it out is a no go. If it never gets freezing, maybe a good cover that will prevent condensation, but if I was spending that kind of cash, I rig it so I could bring it in my house when not in use....

Why so serious?
