Manual Focus

13 years 3 months ago #17425 by April photos
I would like to manual focus on some subjects. I know I can use the AF, but sometimes I want to MF. However I can't seem to get in complete focus using manual. Is there a trick to it?

i think it better to AF because you can see what you are focus in on. but also manual focus is good too

Modern DSLRs focus screens are optimized for AF & as such, are difficult to focus manually...You might try a magnifier that fits over the viewfinder to help you with focus. Nikon's version that I use is a DK-21m

What I sometimes do, I'll move the focus ring back and forth on the subject, when it looks like it's in focus, I'll switch to AF and most of the time I am correct on my manual focus.

Forgot to add something....I see you shoot Canon April...Look in your manual, if it's like Nikon (which I use) there should be a focus indicator in the viewfinder ( Nikon model that I use has a green dot that lights up when you are focused on your subject... BTW, I see you are a fellow Georgian...I live up in Dallas...

Thank you Scott. I'll have to check my manual. Nice to meet another person from Georgia.
