Just bought my first DSLR camera!

13 years 3 months ago #19869 by Number 7
My first camera and first forum to join. I just bought a Nikon D-90 camera that came with a 18-105mm lens. The manual is pretty boring and I was wondering if there are any books or DVD video's that are a little bit easier on the eyes and brain then Nikons manual. Something a little more grass root instructions or hands on?

Thanks for the help.

Robert

There should be a "Magic Lantern" guide on that model....Much easier to understand than the owners manual...Plus Nikon's website has a number of good tutorials on camera usage...
Edit,
Here's a link to some of Nikon's online guides

This guy writes for the average person, not the deep-techie, so it is easy to understand. He also puts in HIS preferences in the menu set-up pages. This makes him unpopular with some people and they are fond of saying he is not to be trusted. Form your own opinion, rather than be drawn into the discussion of whether humor and personal preferences should be allowed on his pages.

as has been said Magic Lantern books are good but for a book you can keep in your camera bag the NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC FIELD PHOTOGRAPHY GUIDE is a keeper IMO

Then there are the good old faithfuls Understanding Exposure, Understanding Composition by Bryan Peterson, they are for photography in general and not for the D90.
