How to photograph reflections in water drops

8 years 10 months ago #446882 by Julie Staas
I have been trying with my D300 and 50mm lens and my shots are, far from what I had hoped for.  If you zoom into the photo, you can see a little reflection, but it doesn't take up the whole screen.

How are these shots done.  Please share what you can.  Thank you.

  1. Try reversing your lens.
  2. Get a set of tubes.
  3. A 50mm lens by itself isn't going to cut it. You need a better reproduction ratio, approaching that of a macro lens. You might be able to get away with a long, somewhat inexpensive lens like an 18-200 or 18-300, but honestly you'll be better off with a macro lens. Tamron and Nikon both make good macro lenses with varying focal lengths.
