How to avoid overblown skys?

I have noticed in many of my day shots, that the sky get's overblown.  How can I avoid this from happening and yet still have my photo exposed correctly?

Spit Neutral Density filters. Preferably the square ones as it's easier to position them where you need them. The screw in type limit where the effect can be placed. You can also control it somewhat in post processing...

I check the histogram.  If the brightness range is just too much, then I AE bracket and fuss over it all later in post.

We don't shoot midday or in open sun. If we must, we expose for the sky and use fill flash to light our subject.

We like the golden hour and cloudy days because the light is more balanced.

Underexpose on purpose.

Then there is also the Circular Polarizer as well. Really depends on where the lighting on the subject is coming from. You can also use additional lighting sources if the subject is not lit from the front as well.

Pick  yourself up a soft edge graduated ND filter, that will do the trick for you.

Does it really matter ? Regardless, the quote is in a  block so it's not like the reply gets buried in the original post that is being quoted...Plus , on long threads, it saves excessive scrolling to get to the reply. Many sites ask people to trim the replies just for that reason, but to trim the quotes sometimes makes someone just viewing a thread to not know what is being replied to....

People who judge based on stuff like this crack me up.  Isn't photography about doing what makes YOU the photographer happy?  I say, if you want to swap out the sky with a more interesting sky, go for it.  lol
