How do you know when it's time to replace your camera?

I know this is a very open ended question.  I'm more interested in your personal buying habits.  What is the trigger that you justify going out and buying a new camera?

I got off the I need a new camera tread mill quite a while ago. I would say that when it stops working, and when the cost to repair it is more than it is worth.

I agree with Joves pretty much, but my D700 still works great but I wanted a bigger file so I got the D800. I sold my D300 to help fund it and regretted that the minute I sent it off. I picked up a D7100 a year later for something lighter, and though its sensor is twice the D300's resolution I don't consider it much of an upgrade. (I still love the camera though). I'll probably use these two bodies the rest of my days, but I said that six years ago when I got the D300/D700......
Call me fickled.....

Why so serious?

I'd add that if your skills exceed your camera's capabilities that it might be time for an upgrade.

When it limits you or it dies is my motto.  If you're somebody named "Stealthy Ninja", it's when a new camera comes out.  Doesn't matter the brand.

I like to change cameras so I can avoid cleaning the sensor. So as soon as a speck of dust gets on it I buy a new one.

Only if you can handle the Xtreme colours and radical image quality.

Xtreme without an E is too much for me.

Fuji has been raising the bar lately, their new X- Pro 2 looks promising.  Priced pretty much what I expected and it's a temptation for me right now.  Just need to buy it when my wife isn't looking.  I've been spending a lot on my hobbies lately.  I promised I would let the buying cool down for a little bit.

Only when my existing is broken or slowing down.  Finding a good deal on a new camera certainly doesn't hurt the situation too.
