Why do some spell color "colour".  Are they right or am I wrong?  Which spelling is correct?

Both are correct, the Brits add the "U".

Different regions of the world spell it differently. What's "right" is really up to you.

No, no it's not.

The word is an English word from the English language, it is spelled colour!

PhotoViking is correct; it is supposed to be spelled colour but Americans loose the 'U', maybe because they like to simplify the English language they use (there is no such thing as American, just English used or spelt incorrectly)...

Wrong!

Well but you must realize that English in, and of itself is not truly a language in the true sense, but one of trade that adapts. Classical languages do not change. English was not the original language of the British Isles at all, but was made up as a common tongue of several native one, which are still spoken today in much of GB. English is still evolving, and will continue to do so by taking from other languages. Whilst some do find this disconcerting, it is what happens with any trade language. The differences including the spelling of many words between the two is that one is an American dialect, and the other is a British. Both are English. Then there is Engrish for total amusement.

...and the Brits didn't invent the car either....
