There are many software and tool but Photoshop is best for editing. But it is not free so if want to use a open source software so use GIMP, it is best free software for editing. or even can try free online tolls. If have not any technical knowledge.

Photoshop Elements is good. Not too expensive, powerful and relatively easy to learn.

There will a learning curve with any software regardless if you buy it or it's free.

I tried Gimp some years ago, I thought it was terrible.

I am currently using a program called Fotoxx free for Linux .  I haven't had problems and have good support for the program.

+1 Photoshop Elements, that's what I used when I started.  Then I moved to Photoshop.

Assuming you are shooting RAW images, and therefore have the option to learn how to process them from start to finish, you have a few choices:

1) Lightroom. Not Photoshop (in any form).
2) Luminar (coming soon to windoze).
3) On1 RAW
4 Capture One

I know that 1, 3 and 4 have trial periods. So I suggest you:

1) Create some RAW images
2) Set aside some time to investigate only one of the above programs during its trial period, and purpose to actually learn how to start to use it.
3) Repeat for the other programs, one at a time.

When you're done, decide what works best for you

I lost track of the date. I stopped paying attention after I decided I wasn't going to spend the money on it. And I'm glad since I'm already hearing that Topaz Studio is a superior product.

I'll stick to Topaz Labs for now.

Doesn't make any difference to my suggestions, AFAICT.

I used photoshop right away when I started and I had a headache. In my opinion, the features are too complicated for a beginner. I am currently using photoviewerpro, it's kind of simple and user-friendly. So far, I am loving it.

Luminar 2018 looks really promising, and Skylum/Macphun are promising updates, but as is, it is still lacking. The worst part is however that the Mac and Windows versions are not the same, but the price is. Windows users still needs to wait for some features and tools.

There's a 14 day free trail available, so there's no hurting in trying it out for yourself.
