School Photography Help

1 year 5 months ago #745646 by Miss ICT
Hi there. I work in a Primary school and have been the "school photographer" for many years. I have now taken on all aspects of Social Media so I need some help.  My Headteacher says I can buy a new camera; not given a budget though!!!!! Not sure if that is a good or bad thing!  Anyway, I have been doing some research but to be honest, I am lost.  I take photos of children playing sports, acting, posing for group photos, and generally every type of photo.  I want a good zoom lens which is also important.    If there are any suggestions, they will be so gratefully received.

G'day ICT

Something like this can soon become a minefield of offers / suggestions and choices

The budget will be your determining factor ... $us500 or $1500 or $3000 as equipment plus lenses plus accessories can soon add up to "heaps" of money. Personally I would keep it simple ... get a "bridge" type camera ie: fixed lens but with a beaut zoom for around $us 400+/- that has all the expected shutter speeds + apertures + auto operation for untrained users

From the above I would seriously look at the Panasonic FZ-300, an excellent camera for stills or video stuff and it will not cost you / the school heaps of parental money

Hope this helps
