Is it my camera?

9 months 4 days ago #754759 by newbie75
I just purchased a used A7RII. Some of the photos I took with it had marks on the pictures that didn't belong there. Would anyone know if it's the camera or the way I took the photos? It's a bit hard to see, but they're both on the face.

TIA

G'day mate

The mark is very hard to see, but I managed a crop to try and find it (below)
If the mark is common in size and shape it suggests that the sensor is damaged in some way

Q- does it appear in daylight images?  - does is appear if you shoot a blank wall / surface with no other stuff on it to interrupt the image? - does it -only- appear in very low light locations?

Maybe our mate TCav can assist here as well
Hope this helps

Thanks for responding. It only shows up in low light photos.

Okay- to start with - "you bought a used camera..."   Q- does it come with any warranty?  -and is that warranty about to expire? -does this mean you have a short time frame to experiment?

I suggest you do some images at home against a blank wall, starting with correct exposure and each frame being one-stop less, the results getting darker and darker, thus forcing this 'blemish?' to show itself at a certain exposure level

Once you have that as a 'repeatable occurrance' then you have something to talk about to the seller / shop / Sony / etc

Hope this helps
