I'm wondering if you were using the new long lens you just got. Migrating from a "normal" zoom to your 500-1000 mega and having a few problems would be like switching from a car to a bus and finding you can't parallel park anymore. Try to describe what you did different. Could the cause of the problems be some condition like shooting at dusk or maybe a light weight tripod when a heavier one might do? How did the results vary overall from what you were expecting?

I've looked at your attachments and can't find any consistent errors. I'm sure there are faults that can be found in the individual shots - just like mine - but nothing that is prevalent through all the shots.

I'm sure someone with more insight into landscapes can offer you more detailed perspectives.

How is the new lens BTW?

:agree: , chasrich. Need to know more about the lens and settings. The light looks a bit low and the lens may not be able to handle it.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

As it gets darker late in the day, your telephoto will have more trouble getting enough light. Your tripod is your friend.

Could you turn the pictures upright, it's a pain in the neck to keep turning my head sideways to view the pictures.

The darker it gets, use high ISO.

question why would you use a higher iso in the dark?

Higher ISO settings require less light to capture the image. The drawback is the image will appear grainy. This might be a good trade off for a faster shutter speed.

Higher ISO will bring in more light to take the shot.
