Shooting In RAW

13 years 5 months ago #6845 by flyinglow
I have read that it is good to shoot in RAW so editing is easier. I have selected RAW on my camera, but I cannot figure out how to get the RAW images on my editing software. I am using PS Elements. Any help would be great.

Your computer should ask you what rpogram you want to open the file type in. It will give you a list and you can check the always use this program. Also do you have the PSE AdobeCameraRaw for your camera? If not then you need to go to www.adobe.com and type in ACR in the search. Now on shooting RAW yes it is better for editing not that it is easier, depending on teh camera manufacturer ACR isnt as good as the manufacturers program for latitude. I shoot in RAW+Jpeg, my reason is if I have images that only need minor tweaking then I edit the Jpeg in Photoshop, if I screwed up a bit worse then I use CaptureNX because Adobe ACR doesnt cut it for me. I tend to find that most of my shots only need Levels adjustments and Brightness/Contrast tweaks. Also I dont know how new to this you are but ask which format to shoot in and there will be a major flamefest between shooters. Some are into RAW only and preach it loud and others like to shoot jpegs only. What you need to do is shoot what works best for you.
