Anyone Have an Opinion/Review on the Canon 60D... About to upgrade.

Does anyone have an opinion/review of the Canon 60D? I'm about to upgrade from the 450D (Xsi). I've read some really good reviews. But I'd like to hear from some people that have been using it for a while.

I've been shooting the 60D for the last six months. I love the camera. It performs to my expectations in every area except for one. The rear panel controls went inop on me due to sweat from my hands. I've managed to dry it out and it did happen one other time. The battery life is great. I use it for three or four outings in a row and have never come close to expending the battery in one day. It seems to perform very well at very high ISO settings with little noticeable noise. I'm currently thinking of upgrading myself for something like the Canon EOS 5D MARK II or possibly the Canon EOS 7D which are both more weather resistant. I intend to keep the 60D as a backup body.

There are tons of reviews by now. I don't have a need for fold out LCD or video, so I saved some $$ with a 50D refurb. No regrets (already spent $$ savings on an extra lens :) ).

Thanks so much for replying. I've got a friend who has a 50D and he's looking to upgrade to a 7D. I think I'm going to go with the 60D. I like the idea of having the HD video.

Hopefully (for several reasons), she does not have sweaty man hands and would not need to worry about that.

My 40D went into the shop last week and I considered exchanging it for a 60. It is a nice unit... but the flip-out LCD seems gimmicky to me, although I could see how it would be useful at times. Personally, I'm preferring to save up for a 7 (or an 8...), but the 60 is certainly capable to return many great results.

The one persistent knock I've heard of on the 60D is the new flat finish of the plastic shell. You may (or may not) like the finish on the 550D better (550D also has HD).

I wish my DSLRs all had the flip out LCD. I love shooting from waist level.

60d is basically a "super rebel".

If you want a Canon with decent autofocus the only choice is the 7D... or the 1D series...

Seriously, once you experience (and know how to use effectively) decent AF, it's hard to go back. It's like FF, one you use it crop cams seem weird (I know I have a FF and a crop cam...) oh and fixed aperture lenses, using variable aperture lenses seems odd to me know (thOugh I use my 28-300 a lot, which is a very sharp but quirky lens).

Oh I shoot Nikon btw and just got back from a 5 hour shoot... So if what I said is a bit on the non sequitur side I appologise.

I have friends that shoot with the 60D and are happy .... I have used theirs and it is a good mid class camera. I personally would not use the tilt out lcd screen.

I understand that money is always a consideration but ..... The focus system on the Canon 7D is much superior to the 60d (compared to the 5DII as well) If you can save your money and afford the 7D you will be getting a much better camera, in my humble opinion. Oh and the 7D has HD video as well.

I shoot with a 60D and absolutely love it! Here's a review that helped me decide on the 60D www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews/Cano...R-Camera-Review.aspx

The video on the 60D is rich and clear. I don't have any complaints. I use Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Lens as my everyday, walk around lens. www.the-digital-picture.com/reviews/cano...usm-lens-review.aspx
