HELP!!!!! 70-200mm f2.8L IS or 70-300mm f4-5.6L IS????
That's one of Canon's best lenses. The Mark I version isn't as good (it's still ok, but the 70-200 F/4L IS is sharper at f/4). The Mark II is extremely sharp, like a prime lens.
When I had one (before switching to Nikon) I also had a 200 2.8L prime lens. The 70-200 2.8L IS II is just as sharp as the 200 2.8L prime.
Here's a comparison I did between the two.
For those Nikon guys, the 70-200 2.8VR II is just as good as the Canon.

Yes you won't regret it. The Mark II is an excellent lens.
I think I will try with couples and just let them be together, and try for more candid, without having to shout back to much direction
