problem with 60D and photoshop cs4

13 years 6 months ago #2402 by istillgotit
I have the new Canon 60D and love it. However I can't get the raw files to show in Bridge or be recognized and load to PhotoShop CS4. They will show in Canon photo professional and I can convert the batch to Jpg which destroys the point of shooting in Raw. I am using Vista 64 and have updated all programs. Any ideas?

Just something to try: convert the Canon RAW file to Adobe's .dng file. I'm not sure if it'll work, but if so, you'll be able to keep all the RAW functionality & can edit it in CS4

It's nice to help and all, but on this site, if the thread is like 4 months old and the OP has 1 post we usually assume they're not coming back. ;)

As for the OPs question. Have you updated Adobe Camera Raw? The 60D is a new camera and you'll need to update that. There is a chance that 4 months ago (when this post was made) Adobe didn't support the 60D RAW files yet. Perhaps now they do.

I'm reminded of the eastern philosophic statement... When the student is ready, the master shall appear.

I'm currently absorbing any and all information about DSLR and specifically the Canon 60D (still doing the happy dance over mine) so I probably would have asked a question about the original post if I had seen it myself. The timing is pretty good for me as I'm cautiously approaching the subject of RAW.

Thanks for that link Pixelrave... I need to check my drivers before I leap into this particular pool of knowledge.

I also appreciate your help Turtle. The original poster might be long gone but the question remained for me. I'm finding this site very useful for keeping me motivated.
