Sure would appreciate some comments folks ~ Which lense is better?

Being basically new to photography, I am confused about 2 lenses that I own. I had previously purchased a Canon ultrasonic EF 100-300mm lense back when I bought my 20D so I had something in telephoto range.

When I bought my T4i, as one of the included items in the package deal was the EF 75-300mm III lense.

What I would like to know is, other than the 75-300 being new in the box, which of these 2 lenses would you consider the best lense. I don't see that I need two lenses in basically the same range so I am thinking about selling one of them to help save for some of the other gear I want to purchase down the road. I just don't have enough knowledge to know which of these 2 is the better lense. I have tried to read reviews online but didn't really get much from that except the canned info from Canon and a couple of reviewers on the 75-300.

Thanks in advance and I appreciate any comments/suggestions.

From what I've heard/read from owners of those two lenses, both are pretty soft at 300mm. The 75-300 seems to get more complaints at other focal lengths too though, as well as complaints about CA. They can both usually be found for around $200 or less, and they both perform about how you'd expect a budget lens to perform.

If you're looking to see which of the two to keep, I'd probably go with the 100-300 (by a slim margin) for image quality.

If it were me though, I'd sell both and upgrade to a nicer telephoto. The EF-S 55-250 is pretty sharp, decent image quality and very good IS. A little more expensive (but the one I'd go with) is the EF 70-300. If you sold both of the others, you'd probably only be paying around $150-200 out of pocket for a much nicer lens.
