Given current prices for new, should I buy new or used?

I've seen several Craigslist ads for a used Canon 5Dll for $1500 to $1600, with several thousand clicks reported. I see them brand new for $1799 + tax ($1965). While I'm not a worry wart about the number of clicks, especially in the 10,000 to 20,000 range, would you pay the extra cash for a new one?

If it's relatively close in price I'd probably buy new, especially if it's a relatively expensive purchase. I don't know that it would be worth the savings to not have a warranty or option to make a return if needed, and I wouldn't want to be out that much money with no recourse to get it back.

I saw a link where someone was selling it brand-new (a reputable retailer) for $1,599. I'll see if I can find that and post it here.

edit
It was B&H. Here's the link, if you add to cart the price will be $1,599.

Includes a Canon gadget bag (200DG) and 16GB memory card. Quite a deal...if the AF of the mk. III wasn't my top priority I'd be all over this right now.

Just another thought...if you're still thinking of getting one used, this deal could be a good bargaining chip.

"Well I don't know...I mean I can get it brand-new from B&H for $1600 and they're throwing in a bag and a card. Maybe if you'd take $1300 I could think about buying your used one..."

Wow! you just saved me at least $200. Thank you! Looks like my 5dc will have a parent soon! This is the the best of both worlds for my situation.

Just found that Amazon has it for $1529. If I add the card it comes to $1582 + tax. I really don't need the bag from B&H. It's getting better by the moment! :)

Did you look at KEH? Not sure if I'm looking at the correct camera but if I am, they have 4 listed with varying condition ratings that seem in your price range. They're supposedly good about returns although it always seems when I buy from them I keep it...

Wow, great deal on Amazon! I also just checked out KEH, which I would definitely trust. But if you're getting it new for that price form Amazon that's even better.

I can't believe an original 5D with an EX rating on KEH is now under $700. If anyone's looking for a great full frame camera at a great price check it out!
