Bought my 70-200 2.8. Wow! This thing is sharp!!

picked up a 70-200 2.8 off of Craigslist... got a really good deal. I shot a basketball game 1 hour after I bought the lens, and was somewhat disappointed when I loaded them up in Lightroom. Then I conceded to the fact that it was a new camera, new to me lens, and crappy lighting. The following day I took some shots just to see how it performed in nominal conditions. Though I processed two of these, the one with the horses (taken from about 180 ft away)really shows how great of a lens this is.
Thanks for looking!

Oh yeh that one is ok. You should try the 70-200 f/4 IS or even better the 70-200 2.8L IS II. Those lenses are prime sharp. In fact I had a 200 2.8L and a 70-200 2.8L IS II at the same time once and the 70-200 was sharper than the prime!

I heard the 70-200 f4 was one of the sharpest of the bunch, and I considered it. I compromised as I really wanted the 2.8, and couldn't realy afford the 2.8 IS ll. I paid $840 for this one, which included the hood, caps, B + W filter, and the bag. It's in new condition. I was set to save and get the 2.8 v1 with IS. But I couldn't pass up this deal. I have no regrets. Maybe someday I'll upgrade... But I'm moving on to a 135L next. Gotta sell a motorcycle first! :)

The f/4 IS WAS the sharpest till the 70-200 2.8L IS II came along.
