My 350D/Rebel not recognised in Windows 8.1 64bit

Hi, my 350D/Rebel not recognised in Windows 8.1 64bit. It keeps telling me there is no driver installed, then suggests I download a Vista driver.
I have just got this new computer with 8.1 64bit, I used my Canon CD to install everything but my camera is not recognised. I went to Canon and they have only 3 downloads for 8.1, none of which work. I would take the card out but I don't have a card reader that takes the size of card in the 350D.
Anybody point me to the answer please?

Check the Canon site for a current driver. And/or order a USB reader that handles CF. Or buy a more current camera.

<$0.02>I, for one, will be happy to see CF go.</$0.02> Not that my opinion has anything to do with your situation.

Good luck.

Ah I guess the new ones use SD cards. Wasn't aware there was USB CF reader, I will have a look. Canon site didn't have one. Only 3 drivers for 8.1, one was for RAW other 2 for imaging software.
Too late to getter a letter to Santa for a new camera. Shucks.
Thanks for the reply. Have a good one.

Not to beat a dead horse, but I use a doohickey like this one:

www.amazon.com/Compact-supports-SanDisk-...words=CF+card+reader

for reading my SD cards. I find it a pain to plug the camera into the computer, and an adapter like this works everywhere with any OS. What's not to love?

There are variations on this on the Amazon site, as well as many other readers.

I also use a USB card reader for my old XT.  Worked perfectly and faster than direct connection.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.
