What makes L glass different from other Canon lenses?

As I Said, i cant have the opportunity yet to test a full frame, but i will wait patiently

An eye for an eye, LSD and antidepressants. Everything in balance. Buddhists call it karma and Christians call it the golden rule, Jews call it— I don't know. Rabbi Hillel said something poignant. Universe always settles the score.
Does it?
No, but it should.

The man does in fact make the shot, but the L lenses make it a hell of a lot easier to get the shot just right. But I agree with the other commenters that other third party lens makers have really stepped up to the plate in recent years.

A few years back I almost moved to Canon, one reason I didn't was the cost of "L" glass, which is simply superior to the consumer lenses, and I would have wanted that. Quality is usually worth every cent, the pros know...

That does bring up a good point, why didn't Canon ever release for non full frame cameras?

Maybe because the EF lenses can be used on EFS cameras anyway... Why duplicate a lens when you don't need to.

Unfortunately, that's not the case, as Canon are already duplicating lenses in that they make crop specific length lenses that only fit on crop bodies...

Well, I use 'L' glass and I will refuse to comply with the certification...

...what are they gonna do, send thugs round to take the 'L' lens off me?

:P

But not "L" level lenses. None of the EFS lenses will mount on the EF bodies but EF mount lenses will mount on EFS bodies as I understand it.

Nikon doesn't make the pro glass for DX (crop) cameras either, the enthusiasts won't pay the price, the pros will and seem to desire full frame gear....

They don't but the FX pro glass will work on DX bodies & vice versa.

Yes, and in fact my 24-70 /2.8 is tremendous on my D7100. The only weakness of that lens is at 24mm, stopped down and in the extreme corners, on the crop camera the problem area is, cropped out! My DX glass is near useless on my D800 though, will work but very small usable image...
