Canon EOS M6 Mark II Vs. Sony a6600

4 years 8 months ago #657943 by Red Tail
One more post for me today.  I want a smaller camera, something that is  good for day trips and going out with a small package.  I was looking at the Sony a6500, then Sony released the a6600.  And then Canon released the M6 Mark II.  The Canon has 32mb while the Sony has 24mp, the Sony has 5 Axis IBIS, however Canon opted to keep that out of this camera.  The Canon is $850 and the Sony is $1400.  Both will do 4k 30p.

Which would you personally go with?

Go with whichever brand you see yourself preferring to work with in the future. Don't blindly make the decision based on just one purchase. Think long term.

+1 on the above.

And if video really matters (does it?) you might consider a Panasonic micro 4/3s system.

Agree 100%, and both Canon and Sony will likely be around a while....

Why so serious?

Personally I'd choose a camera that allows me to use the lenses I want.

For me, I think I'd go for the Fujifilm XT-30 in this price range. The money you save over the Sony will enable you to buy a really nice lens and Fuji have some really nice lenses for this system.

What if you think the ergonomics of an XT-30 sucks? What then?

Don't buy it then.
