Canonet QL17 GIII

I have been given a fairly clean Canonet GIII and was wondering if anyone has had experience with this vintage camera. I've never had a rangefinder before, any tips on maintenance would be great. I'm looking forward to burning a few rolls of film...any recommendations for film would be great too!

Thanks,

Film Newbie

Hey Barry, I have that model along with a number of other fixed lens rangefinders...It's a pretty nice little camera that is popular on eBay. Due to it's age, it likely needs new light seals around the back of the camera's film door. Might I suggest Jon Goodman who sells kits on eBay under the name "Interslice". Very good person to deal with & he also supplies visual guides on how to replace the seals. I bought a few kits from him & have fixed several RF & 35 mm SLR's...Here's a link to an listing of his on eBay for that camera

Fugi Superia Reala 100 is what i use.

I've heard good things about Kodak Ektar 100. It's in my camera right now and should i be finishing up the roll soon.

Thanks for the seal info, looks like he has seals for lots of classic cameras. good contact to have!
I think that I'm gonna get a seal kit from Jon, even though the seals don't look terrible... a little freshen up can't hurt! Thanks again Scott.
