Which handles Adobe Lightroom better... PC or MAC?

Now a days, I think it wouldn't matter. IMO, I think Windows holds up with the use of software just as good as mac.

There will be no noticable difference just different keys to use with each.

Brand name doesn't matter, it just depends on the resources: memory, processing speed, etc...

Erm, at one time displays for Apple were held in higher esteem than those for PCs. No longer the case?

Newer macs come with In-Plane Switching (IPS) monitors which have a wider colour gamut and better contrast range than more common and cheaper Twisted Nematic (TN) monitors. They are great for photography. Most PC users have TN screens. You can buy IPS monitors for PC but they are more expensive, about $500+ (with a few exceptions). So out of the box, photos typically look better on macs. That's one of the reasons macs are more expensive than "equivalent" PCs.

As for running Lightroom, I agree with Henry. Brand doesn't matter. Processing speed, RAM and disk speed and space do. When I first upgraded to LR3 I was using a minimum system requirements machine and LR was p-a-i-n-f-u-l-l-y- s-l-o-w, almost unusable. On my newer Windows 7, I5 processor, 8 MB RAM machine it works fine.

Here is Adobe's list of ways to optimize LR's performance .

hmmmm...I am currently researching computer upgrades. I am currently working on an Asus laptop with an samsung monitor.

I have been pondering mac, or a good and powerful desktop...

My issues - currently I do a lot of event photography which is time sensitive. So little things like, if it takes an extra 5 seconds for an image to load in lightroom really do make a difference when your trying to review a thousand images. I am thinking workflow and productivity...

I also shoot a lot of art images (HDR, and HDR panoramics). So I would like a machine that can handle the HDR processing and panoramic processing without taking up the better portion of a day to do it.

I know the basics to look for - at least 8 gigs of RAM and a good strong processor. Th big Q is graphics card. What graphics card would all ya'll recommend to help crunch through data quicker?
