Geek Squad for computer repairs?

Any recommended these guys? I need to get my computers serviced and gone through. They are running slower these days. I keep seeing commercials referencing Geek Squad not sure if they work on both Mac's and PC's? How are their prices and quality of work is the big question?

I've used them and thought the guy was good, but talked to much and was pretty pricey at the end.

I've had better luck with smaller companies than those nationwide commercialized companies.

the only confidence you have from GeekSquad is that you know they have atleast their A+ certification. This is an industry standard certification, however it is pretty much the bare minimum. The only difference between an A+ certified tech and your typical highschool computer nerd is the "guarantee" that they know the bare minimum. Thats not to say your geeksquad tech doesnt have a computer science degree, but they may not have much more than a highschool education and an interest in computers. GeekSquad is generally a VERY entry level job.

Personally, If i were a computer "user". Id find an established business where you can see their credentials. Or even a local "tech guy". Although if you do this i would recommend establishing some credentials (such as A+) or some references.

The thing about computers is that it takes just a few seconds to load a computer with backdoor access, etc. So you would hopefully be able to trust whoever is working on your computer. This does not mean GeekSquad is any more trustworthy.

im the local tech guy though. So im usually the one people are asking to fix their computers lol. I should note though that i do not have a single industry certification, or college training in the subject. Yet ive never encountered a problem i couldnt find a solution to. Started fixing computers for people in 1997 when i was about 14 lol - Its some sort of naturally occuring abaility. I only say this because i would definitely recommend me over geeksquad despite my lack of "qualification" simply because of the sheer amount of industry experience i have lol
