Currently have a Canon SI2 Powershot, 5mp. Still takes nice pics but want something a little faster to catch the critters better. LOL

For a similar price consider the Nikon D7000. It's got better AF but a little worse video (still good enough for most things, including pro applications if need be).

Tonight in fact I'm going to use my (new) D7000 along side my D3s to do video/photography for an event (paid work BTW). The D3s for stills only and the D7000 for supplementary stills and supplementary "artistic" video (along side my Canon XF300).

60D's AF isn't that great and the body is a bit weaker. It does have the flippy screen thingy though...

Controls on the D7000 are easier too (from what I've seen/heard/experienced of the 60D vs the D7000).

I just thought, I need to go charge some more batteries for tonight... bye. ;)

I have to admit my Powershot has the flippy thingy also and it comes in handy sometimes. Will take a look at the D7000 see how it fits my hand and how heavy it is. Not to worried about video, don't use it much. Haven't used a nikon since my 35mm died. Its off to Huppins tomorrow to have a look see. Thanks and good luck tonight!!

I sent you this in PM...

Yes - I still have the 60D. Yes I would still buy it as I got a lot of camera for the price - it is well worth the investment. I'm currently pricing out a 7D for the next upgrade but the 60D is worth the intermediate stop. It handles high ISO setting with little or no noise. Battery life is exceptional and the controls and operations are easy to learn. I do have a small problem with moisture and the controls on the back of the camera. My hands get sweaty if I'm shooting out in the heat and sun of Florida. I also am taking it from air conditioning into humidity which causes a similar problem. I intend to keep the 60D as a backup camera once I move up to the 7D.

I've looked at the Rebels after owning the 60D. There is a definite improvement with the 60D. The swiveling LCD comes in handy also.

Also I bumped up this thread...

If liveview is very important to you, spend some time checking that out. My Canon 50D does have liveview, but the limitations on how other controls can be applied while using LV is a disappointment. Of course LV is not a big deal for everybody.

I'm not saying the 60D is bad, but it's funny how people compare the Nikon D7000 to the 7D more than they do to the 60D

Unless you're doing a lot of video, the flippy screen isn't worth bothering with IMHO. I haven't had a camera with a flippy screen since the Canon G2.

Dude, get the D7000 the AF alone is worth it over the 60D. If you insist on Canon, go the 7D.
