Which HDR processing software are you using?

I'm looking at a few and honestly all their marketing information make each sound like they are the best. Which would you suggest or are you using?

Currently Im using Photomatix Pro 4.1.4. appears very easy to use and gives some good results, with this software you do need 3 or more photos whereas the other software i have....Nik HDR Efex Pro, i use with Photoshop you can process 1 photo if you want..I find both of them very good.

I use Photoshop to do all my "HDR". Photomatix is good to get your feet wet and understand the principles of setting it up.

I use Photomatix. Its really good. You can get the most out of your image. Its also not too expensive, and can link with Lightroom.

If you are just starting out, you can't really go wrong with Photomatix. Highly recommended and plugs into Lightroom as well.

As mentioned above, the Nik plugin and Photomatix are the two I use the most. A tip for getting better tone-mapping with a single image in Photomatix: use Lightroom / Camera Raw to adjust the exposure on the image like a bracketed shot and save each one as a .TIF. Then, import them into Photomatix like you would with bracketed photos. I've gotten some really good results that way.

In the end, it's all a matter of choice and comfort with a particular program.

I just heard about a free HDR application the other day called Picturenaut . I just downloaded it last night so I don't know what it's capable of yet, but I can say it's fast and stable. I just didn't have time to get good bracketed exposures and really give it a good test. What I can say for sure is it does an excellent job of aligning photos and eliminating ghosts.

It doesn't seem like it's intended for doing "artistic" and overcooked HDR like some people enjoy, just for getting a full spectrum of dynamic range to make a shot that looks realistic.

I hear Photomatix is a good start. That's what I'd like to start off on soon.

Thank you all for the input. Now how is Photomatix to operate from a users stand point? Pretty easy to jump in and figure out? I like some of the automated plugins I've been seeing about Topaz and Nik, but wondering how powerful they are vs others on the market?

Photomatix I find is very simple to use....open the program, it will ask u which photos to select...it will tell you of any problems with the photos, then click a few boxes and it will ask you what effect you want and then process...

Topaz and Nik are imports into Photoshop and Lightroom, i dont use them as much at the moment.

I have been using Nik's HDR Effex Pro. I found it easy to learn (and computers are not my friend), the pre-sets are actually useful and the adjustments are fairly intuitive. I would certainly reccomend it.
