Photoshop Tip: Add a Quick Border to Any Photo Using the Crop Tool

Photoshop Tip from Photobacks:

Add a quick border to any photo using the Crop tool.

Call it the "reverse crop!" After selecting your Crop tool, extend the crop outline past the edges of your photo. When you save the crop, you'll have a new border, basically creating a new canvas size for your photo. Note, the background color you've selected in the color swatches will be the color used to fill in the border. (If you're on a transparent layer - not a background layer - you'll simply extend the canvas size.) Give it a try!
