What's the caveat to using Topaz DeNoise software?

They advertise "Make 1600 ISO look like 100 ISO.  I'll bite, what's the catch?  I'm looking for ways that I can shoot at night with higher ISO and remove some noise.  Is this the answer?

A) They offer a trial period, so your best bet is to purpose to try using it for 30 days to see if it works for you. I've been told that, if you can get it dialed in, it does a great job.

2) Noise is hidden by detail: the more you have going on, the less noticeable the noise. OF course, there's a point of diminishing returns when your ISO is so high that you can't capture detail to begin with.

I use masked sharpening in LR, and luminance smoothing, and have no real complaints. If I have a large area that really needs more smoothing I will use virtual copies in LR and composite in PS to get apparent noise minimized. Works better than gaussian blur in PS. For me.

Caveat?  None that I'm seeing.  Good tool.

I was thinking the same.  Try it out with the free trial, you like it.  Keep it.
