Lighting and shadow question in post processing

12 years 11 months ago #51317 by Homer
How can I change the direction of lighting or add new lighting to a subject in Photoshop? Then of course how do I change the shadows?

Cheers and many thanks!

You can adjust and change images pixel by pixel if you care to, so almost anything is possible in Photoshop. I think changing lighting direction or adding new light sources is possible, but it would require very good understanding of lighting, exceptional Photoshop and illustration/painting skills, and probably a lot of time and effort in order to get something that looks as good as real life. It's much easier for me to achieve the lighting I want on location at the time of exposure.

Obviously there is already lighting software for 3D computer modeling and effects. I don't know if there is something similar and as functional for photos.
