The great thing is that Adobe took Bruce Fraser's and Jeff Schewe's advice on sharpening technique, and incorporated it into Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw.

I mainly learned sharpening from Bruce Fraser's and Jeff Schewe's book "Real World Image Sharpening with Adobe Photoshop {version whatever}". I found some additional useful techniques in Lee Varis' book "Skin". I made and used various Photoshop actions based on their techniques for years, but since recent versions of LR/ACR most of the time I am satisfied with the sharpening tools provided.

I'm an Lr user too. The tools work well.

:)

BTW I was on the beta test project for Lr and one of my suggestions was they needed to add "local" editing ability (so we didn't have to open Ps too). I'm sure I was not the only one, but it came around in version 2.

I do wish I had all the options in the detail tab for the sharpening adjustment brush. Sometimes I still have to go into Photoshop for local sharpening. I'm still using CS4 ACR, so maybe that's something they are already offering in CS5/LR3?

I prefer Matt's teaching style over Scott's. I'm sure you would agree.
