How to use Groupon for your photography business

First off let me ask, have any of you successfully used Groupon to generate new business for your photography business?

I keep thinking there must be a way to leverage this site, but only read horror stories of others who have failed trying. I don't want to be part of those statistics, but keep thinking there must be a way.

Care to leave your 2 cents on this topic?

I've only heard that one example where the photographer picked up something crazy like $60,000 but at the end of the day it turned out something like $70 earnings for each client that was gained. It wasn't that impressive.

I've read that these type coupons are already falling out of favor amongst local businesses; they tend to lose money on them and don't get repeat business. (The exception might be in tourist areas where they get a lot of one-time business.)

I saw reports of lawsuits against Living Social which is similar; apparently they give false expiration dates on their coupons as they're actually usable until the total amount of the coupon has been used.

If you google Groupon and lawsuit you'll find plenty to read about apparently deceptive practices they seem to have used. I don't know how it will all turn out but I'd look into it before putting any money into it.

If you do venture into Groupon make sure you put a limit on the numbers of people who can qualify for the offer, a friend of my daughters didnt and she had a lot of financial problems with over two thousand taking up the offer. :toocrazy: :toocrazy:
