Cold calling for new photography jobs?

I'm trying to come up with more ways to grow my photography business and wondering if cold calling works.  Where do you buy leads from?  Or will you just try to call up flower shops, wedding venues and bridal shops only?

The most effective way to get new customers today is mobile marketing. And best of all, you can give your customers their own mobile app and let them grow your lead list for you.

This recent PhotographyTalk article explains the rise of mobile marketing in more detail. www.photographytalk.com/photography-arti...ady-for-a-mobile-app

Just like real estate, I find most business is through referrals. But if you have a specific target audience, it can't hurt to reach out and let them know you exist. And throw in, "If you know anyone else looking for xyz, please pass along my info." to keep with the referral theme.

IF you decided to do this, do a little research on the person you're calling first.

I got a call (I think from India) last night, asking me if I want some sort of web optimisation service for my website. The lady asked to talk to the marketing manager... if she did a little research (ironically on my website) she'd know I have no marketing manager as I work mainly on my own... lol
