Having a photo of an antique car published!

13 years 6 months ago #4941 by Deb
A few years ago I took a photograph of an old antique car at a christmas festival in my home town. I don't know who the car belongs to and have no way of finding out. I totally changed the background and there's no numbering on the car ~ it's a side shot. I also turned it into black and white. I would really like to submit this to a magazine for publication. Can anyone tell me if this will be okay or can reprocussions occur? Thanks, Deb♥♥

Based one what you have shared, I don't think you would have ANY problems with that. Can we see the photo? Post it up :cheer:

As long as it isn't personally recognizable, you should be OK. I know that submitting work to a "stock" agency is quite demanding...Here's a copy of part of an email sent to me by someone who uses one
"Now, a word of warning: it is not easy to get accepted at any microstock agency that delivers a decent return (there are only four of those, the rest won't earn you anything). Photos have to be perfect when viewed on screen at pixel-peeping 72dpi. No sensor dirt, no colour banding in skies, no white fringes or jagged edges on diagonals caused by sharpening, no visible purple fringing, no visible trademarks or protected designs (three stripes on sports shoes means Adidas, for example) no identifiable people unless you have model releases (I'm not sure what they do about model releases for the initial test - you obviously need to read the application rules carefully). Cars are now banned, so are any pictures that contain a drawing, design or photo made by someone else (e.g. that little advertising hoarding in the corner), no complete banknotes but showing part of a note is OK as long as it isn't British (the Bank of England sent them a warning notice), no buildings that were put up since about 1980 unless they are really generic or have a property release from the owner (illogical, since it really ought to be the architect), no pictures obviously taken on private land."
