Selling photos

Anyone try selling photos? I had tried this earlier this year, where I was suppose to upload my 10 best photos. LOL all mine got declined. A bit discouraging considering I thought I had some great photos.

Just curious if anyone has been successful at selling their photography?

I was just wondering where a person could go to sell their photos? Searching the net I came up with so many results I really have no idea who's for real.

I believe shutterstock.com is a good site for selling photos. I'm not there myself, but hope to be soon.

I tend to stay away from the micro stock world, where you upload a few, someone picks the ones they say are good enough and then you get pennies for each download.
My personal feeling is that those sites are really pulling down the value of a photo to the market.
I use my own web site, It need some work, but I direct people who inquire about my images there to directly order prints.
I do event work and have a couple pro labs that have e-commerce sites for specific event items
(sports, weddings, corporate outtings).
I have found that doing a paid shoot for a client is better financially than uploading to a micro site.
Create a portfolio, market it, and sell baby

I have heard of people selling to shutterstock and stockphotos. I personally have just sold my photos in my local community, I display lots of photos at the community college which helps generate some extra business.
