Foam in the Bottle

I took this for the Canon Photo5 competition Foam brief but I missed the dates! :(

Thought to post here and ask you guys what you think.

It is supposed to be a 'macro' brieft but I don't have a macro lens so used my 18-55mm lens to get the best shot.

I filled the bottle with pebbles and foam and poured the Red food colorizer and captured the flow :)

It loses its punch half way down the bottle, maybe next time photograph the whole bottle with foam running out of the top and down the glass.

I like the color shift. Wouldn't all red be boring? It might have been neat to see two colors.

I do think the lighting could be improved. The reflection is a bit distracting; that could have been softened. Putting a light behind the bottle could have created some neat effects.

Yep, I agree. The competition was expecting a macro shot so I did not take the whole bottle with foam :)

Thanks :)

That reflection is due to the pebbles inside and I forgot totally about it. Thanks for the tip of putting a light behind the bottle - I will sure keep that in mind!

It's a great pity you missed the cut-off date. :( I love the colour range from top to bottom.B) Your interpretation of the brief seems to meet all the criteria except the macro part. Maybe a work-around for not having a Macro lens would have been to shoot vertically and use your Depth of Field. I'm not too sure if this would work, but experimentation will tell.:judge:
